Day 1: Yangon arrival Meet on arrival at Yangon International Airport by Woodland guide. Transfer to hotel for check in. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon visit to Bogyoke Aung San Market, formerly known as Scott market. Evening visit to Shwedagon Pagoda - 2500 year old world famous stupa. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight Yangon. Breakfast at hotel. Commence sightseeing famous Bagan temples and pagodas such as Shwezegon Pagoda, Gu Byauk Gyi Temple, Htilominlo Temple, Khay Min Ga Temple and many more to see their wall paintings, to study their history and different architecture styles. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, proceed for sightseeing Ananda Temple which shows a masterpiece workmanship of 11th century architecture. Continue to Mingala Zedi Temple and Shwesandaw Pagoda where a narrow staircase leads you to the open terrace for a panoramic view of Bagan. Evening sunset view from Shwesandaw Pagoda. In the evening, proceed for Popa Mountain Resort, check in. Dinner and overnight at the resort. Breakfast at resort. Sightseeing of Taungkalat and nat shrines where visitors can observe local worshipping of spirits. Lunch at resort. Afternoon sightseeing includes Popa National Park, Sandalwood plantation and Popa village. Dinner at resort. Overnight Popa. Breakfast at resort. Morning transfer to Nyaung U airport for flight to Mandalay. Arrive Mandalay and start morning excursion to ancient capital Amarapura, 11 km South of Mandalay. Visit to legendary and serene Mahagandayon Monastery where one thousand over monks study Buddhist scriptures. Proceed to 1.2 km long U Bein wooden bridge and silk weaving factory. Lunch at local restaurant. Check in at hotel. Evening sightseeing visit includes Mahamuni Pagoda, one of the most important religious structures in Mandalay. Then proceed to Shwe Kyaung, and Mandalay Hill, the vantage point for the view of Mandalay. Dinner at hotel. Overnight Mandalay. Breakfast at hotel. Excursion trip to Mingun village on the western bank of Ayeyarwaddy River. Tour highlights include Mingun Bell, the world's largest ringing bell weighing 90 tons, Mingun Village, and Shinbume Pagoda, most attractive pagoda built in 1816 by king Bodawpaya's grandson in memory of one of his wives. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, continue to Sagaing, a retreat for Buddhist devotees with numerous Pagodas and monasteries. The scene of Sagaing Hill dotted with many shapes and sizes of pagodas is a beautiful scene, to be viewed from across the river. Dinner at hotel. Overnight Mandalay. Breakfast at hotel. Visit to Monywa- the commercial centre of Chindwin Valley, about 136 km to the west of Mandalay. Sites to see in Monywa are Than-Bok-de Pagoda with over 500,000 Buddha Images, Bodhi-ta-htaung - one thousand Bodhi trees. Lunch at local restaurant. Dinner at hotel. Overnight Monywa. Breakfast at hotel. Via Mandalay, drive to Pyin Oo Lwin, a pleasant hill resort situated over 3000 ft above sea level, famous for its lovely lake, National Kandawgyi Garden and colonial era buildings. Check in at the resort. Overnight Pyin Oo Lwin. Breakfast at the resort. Visit Pwe Kauk waterfall and Peik Chin Myaung Caves, 15 miles away from Pyin Oo Lwin, various Buddha images in the cave are part of the attractions of this visit. Then proceed to Maha Anthtookanthar Pagoda. Lunch on the way. Evening visit to National Kandawgyi Gardens. Many varieties of flowers, plants and trees in this gardens are just pleasant and enjoyable for a leisurely stroll. Dinner at the resort. Overnight Pyin Oo Lwin. Breakfast at the resort. Tour highlights are Pyin Oo Lwin Market, horse cart riding along the colonial style buildings, and the Chinese temple. Afternoon transfer to Thada Oo airport for flight to Heho. Check in hotel. Overnight Inlay. Breakfast at hotel. An excursion by boat on Inlay Lake will include seeing the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local method of fishing and village life. Visit to floating market (available to see on the market days only which is held on every five days). Further visits are made to Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the weaving village of Inpawkhon (famous for its silk weaving handlooms), Ngaphechaung Monastery - well known for its jumping cats - and other interesting sights. Dinner at hotel. Overnight Inlay. Breakfast at hotel, drive to Taunggyi. Proceed to Kakku - a hidden treasure of an unusual, magnificent collections of Buddhist Stupas, unheard of by historians and unlisted in guide books until recently, lies in the deepest Pa-oh territory. Kakku is situated at 26 miles south of Taunggyi, the capital of Shan State. Lunch and dinner at local restaurant. Overnight Taunggyi. Breakfast at hotel. Morning transfer to Heho airport for flight to Yangon. Lunch at local restaurant. Transfer to hotel for check in. Afternoon visit to Art and Deco handicrafts, Women's Home Workshop. Evening visit includes Botataung Pagoda, a famous landmark on Yangon waterfront and Nanthida jetty to see busy life on the Yangon River. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight Yangon. Breakfast at hotel. In time transfer to airport for international departure. |
