The Jewel of Popa
... an experience to be remembered !

A forty-minute drive beyond Bagan’s landscape of pagodas lies the geologic and cultural wonder known as Popa Mountain. Popa Mountain, at 5000 ft, creates its own weather. The lush moisture found on Popa’s hillsides stands in total contrast to the arid Bagan plains. Immediately adjacent to Popa Mountain is Popa Taungkalat-an other worldly volcanic plug. Sitting atop this mountain is a monastic/shrine, home to the 37 Nats-spirits worshipped in Myanmar’s pre-Buddhist, animist religion.

Popa Mountain resort is arguably the most luxurious resort in Myanmar. To many visitors the naturalistic design of this resort is so complete it appears as an organic outgrowth of the mountain itself. Each exquisitely crafted villa rises quietly out of the forest and provides guests with unparalleled views of Popa Taungkalat monastery. The resort is done entirely in teak. It boasts blue tiled swimming pools, a full spa and complete conference facilities. Outdoor activities include trekking, nature walks, sightseeing, horseback riding, bird and butterfly watching, swimming and golfing (the nine hole course sits at the bottom of the mountain). And of course no visit to Popa is complete without a walk up to the monastery where one can gain a fascinating glimpse Myanmar’s indigenous religion.

The resort is 40 minutes drive from Bagan/Nyaung U airport. Close proximity to the temples and pagodas of Bagan provides guests with luxury and scenery unmatched in Myanmar without the noise or heat of staying in Bagan town.

Location
Mt. Popa, known as Myanmar’s Mt. Olympus, is a forest clad landmark arising 5000 ft. above sea level and is a place of special importance in both the Country’s History & Culture. The natural springs, flowers and wooded hillsides greatly contrast to the arid lands surrounding it and therefore called the “Oasis of the dry zone”. The climate is also totally different from neighboring Bagan & Myingyan.

Perched mid way to the summit of this legendary Mountain, over looking the “Popa Taungkalat” at 2,500 ft. above sea level is the eco-friendly Popa Mountain Resort, an International Resort Hotel.
The resort is 40 minutes drive from Bagan/Nyaung U airport.
